GUIDED TOUR

The BEHAVIORAL Table OF ELEMENTS
(2020 VERSION)

  • The table is laid out in a way that the user can profile behavior by region of the body, gesture type, stress-level and deception-likelihood. Even variable factors like temperature, interrogator behavior and attitude toward interrogator can be factored in to create reliable results for use in any culture, country or situation.
  • It resembles the periodic table of elements because of its familiarity and easy-to-learn format.
  • We will start the tour by looking at the key, and examining what each cell has to offer.

HOVER OVER FOR INFORMATION

  • The interactive version of the Table comes in Microsoft Excel format.
  • Hovering over any cell describes each behavior and its associated interpretation.
  • The Table becomes an interactive training and analysis tool IMMEDIATELY

The Cells

  • Within each cell, several factors and amplifying data are presented to either be analyzed alone, or compared with other behaviors within the structure of an interaction.
  • Conflicting Behaviors tell us that the gesture may not conform to the typically accepted translation of the meaning of the gesture or behavior.
  • Sexual propensity means that either the behavior is universal, or is more common among men or women.
  • Confirming gestures (found elsewhere on the table) amplify the commonly accepted translation of the behavior.
  • Amplifying gestures (found elsewhere on the table) give us more data and also add weight to the confirmation above.

Color-Coding

  • Each behavior is further categorized by a color code.
  • If, for example, you saw a red (deceptive) behavior  mixed with a red-letter-only behavior, it would increase the deception rating to an automatic 4.
  • The variable behaviors, shown in blue, indicate what can be read or translated on a sliding or variable scale.
  • Green colors are the most relaxed and solid red behaviors are indicative of the most stressful on the scale.

Stress Continuum

  • From left-to-right, stress increases. The deception likelihood also increases as you move right.

Vertical Axis: Body Region

  • Moving down on the table shows lower body regions. The head is the uppermost cell group and the feet are positioned at the bottom.

B.D.A. Framework
and Deception Time-Frame

  • Here, you can also see the Deception Time-frame indicators in the lower right corner of each cell.
Picture

At the Bottom

  • The lowest two rows take place outside the body.
  • The top of these two rows shows behaviors while a person interacts with objects. The bottom-most row shows verbal and syntax signs of deception.

Getting Results

  • Using a copyrighted scale, the Deception Rating Scale shows us the likelihood that an individual gesture can be associated with deceptive behavior. This factor also changes with influencing factors like room temperature, interrogator behavior and appearance, etc.
  • The B.D.A. framework indicates when the behavior is most likely to take place during questioning.

Welcome Aboard

  • The Behavioral Table of Elements was designed to have multiple applications across unlimited platforms and to work in any environment and in any country. As an organic document, the table will continue to evolve and progress in its complexity, accuracy and applicability. Your agency or company will have access to this document as it grows for life.
  • As a training tool, the table is an absolutely invaluable piece of hardware that enables, fast, accurate and measurable training results that can be replicated with ease across a broad spectrum of employees.
  • As an analysis tool, for the first time in world history, an interaction can be mathematically broken down into accurate and universally understood gestures, behaviors, deception and vocal indicators.
  • As you make your way through the book, the graphs and tables may seem a bit over-done, but it will be tied up quite nicely as you near the finish. Whether you are reading this as a student, analyst or an instructor, the tables will gradually form a more clear understanding that the Behavioral Table of Elements is actually quite a simple system that exemplifies the closest possible attempt our species has ever made to scientifically understand and categorize human behavior and interaction in a way that can be shared and understood by anyone, or presented in court.
  • The rating system was developed to account for variables, numerically and behaviorally break down an entire interaction and automatically change numeric values in response to organic events within interrogation and conversation.
  • Every time the table is used for any reason, the user begins to develop a more intimate understanding of behavior, the cell abbreviations and their important position within the table. After a three-week period of periodic use, most clients in the test group experienced significant results and were able to recall over 95% of the cell data and the relationship of behaviors. Field agents will be able to use this table on a daily basis and it will eventually become a subconscious competence that is developed that will very likely save hundreds of lives in Law Enforcement.
  • An ‘instinctive’ ability to use the table in real-world environments to profile behavior usually takes about nine to eleven weeks of exposure. The tri-fold wallet cards that accompany the advanced training package are absolutely indispensable for field agents. You’ll find that it will be easy and enjoyable to take the table home and use it to watch the news, TV shows and even interact with your children. Employees will take this table into their personal lives and use it in myriad ways that speed up the process of their familiarization and development of their ‘unconscious competence.’

Simply possessing the table during the presidential debates would have changed many people’s minds about what they thought was ‘honest’ communication.
